Cette inscription tracée en lettres de sang sur le mur de son salon bouleverse Harold Irving, un écrivain dont la vie part en lambeaux. S’engage alors un terrifiant jeu de massacre orchestré par le Maestro. Pris au piège de ce tueur machiavélique et sans limites, Harold va s’unir à Dexter Borden, un flic du FBI et Franny Chopman, un médecin légiste, pour tenter d’enrayer la mécanique d’une implacable vengeance. Mais comment échapper à un monstre qui a tout prévu, tout planifié, anticipé la moindre de vos réactions ?
